What is Dib Bangkok 2026?

Dib Bangkok 2026 is a contemporary art museum created as a new cultural landmark for the city. Its collection spans nearly 70 years, while its exhibitions bring Thai and international artists together in a calm, reflective setting designed to encourage closer engagement with contemporary art.

The museum occupies a repurposed 1980s steel warehouse redesigned by Kulapat Yantrasast of WHY Architecture with A49. Original concrete columns and Thai-Chinese window grilles remain, while the galleries progress from a raw industrial ground floor to brighter, more tranquil upper levels. The name “Dib” means “raw” or “authentic” in Thai.

What’s On at Dib Bangkok? Giving Life

From 26 September 2026 to 3 May 2027, Dib Bangkok presents Giving Life ชีวิต ชีวา, featuring more than 160 works by 33 Thai and international artists. Curated by Ariana Chaivaranon, the exhibition explores how artists bring materials to life through movement, transformation and interaction across physical and historical contexts. Alexander Calder is a central reference, alongside artists including Izumi Kato, Tuan Andrew Nguyen, Rirkrit Tiravanija and Rachel Youn. 

 

Dib Bangkok Tickets & Opening Hours

From 26 September 2026, Dib Bangkok is open Thursday – Tuesday from 10 am to 7 pm and closed on Wednesdays. The main galleries close 15 minutes before the museum closes. Advance booking is recommended, although walk-in tickets are available subject to capacity. Payments are accepted by credit card or bank transfer only; cash is not accepted.

Where Is Dib Bangkok & How to Get There?

Dib Bangkok is located at 111 Soi Sukhumvit 40, Phra Khanong, Khlong Toei, Bangkok 10110, with access from Rama IV Road. The nearest SkyTrain station is BTS Ekkamai, around a 20-minute walk from the museum. Visitors who prefer not to walk can continue from Ekkamai by taxi or ride-hailing service; searching “Dib Bangkok” in a map app will direct drivers to the museum entrance.

Getting there:

  • BTS: Take the Sukhumvit Line to BTS Ekkamai, then walk approximately 18 – 20 minutes or take a short taxi/ride-hailing trip.
  • Taxi / ride-hailing: Search for “Dib Bangkok” in your preferred map or ride-hailing app.
  • By car: The museum can be accessed via Rama IV Road and Sukhumvit Soi 40.
  • Parking: Limited parking is available in the museum basement. Additional spaces are available at the Dib Parking Building, approximately a five-minute walk away. Museum visitors receive up to three hours of complimentary parking.

 

 

Things to Know Before You Visit

Dib Bangkok has no official required visit duration. For trip planning, around 1.5 – 2.5 hours is a reasonable estimate for exploring the galleries and architecture without rushing; travellers attending James Turrell’s Straight Up Sunset Light Program should allow additional time because it requires separate admission.

A few practical details can make the visit smoother:

  • Book ahead: Advance ticket booking is recommended because gallery capacity is limited. Walk-in tickets may be available, but entry is not guaranteed at busy times.
  • Cashless payment: Tickets are currently paid for by credit card or bank transfer; cash is not accepted.
  • Accessibility: Accessible basement parking and elevators are available, and wheelchairs can be requested. Note that James Turrell’s Straight Up requires visitors to use some steps and may not suit all visitors with mobility limitations.
  • Free public areas: You do not need a museum ticket to visit Dib Store or Watthu-Dib Bistro & Bar.
  • Food and drinks: They are not permitted inside the museum galleries.
  • Photography: Professional equipment, staged shoots, flash, tripods, selfie sticks and similar equipment are restricted.
  • Re-entry: Tickets are for single admission; re-entry depends on capacity and staff discretion.
