What Is the Amazing Thailand Marathon Bangkok?
The Amazing Thailand Marathon Bangkok 2026 presented by TOYOTA is the ninth edition of what the organiser describes as Thailand’s biggest marathon and the country’s official capital-city marathon. Around 48,000 runners from Thailand and overseas are expected to take part in the 2026 event. It is also listed on the World Athletics Label Road Races calendar.
The event is co-organised by organisations including the Royal Thai Government, Ministry of Tourism and Sports, Sports Authority of Thailand, Tourism Authority of Thailand, Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, Metropolitan Police Bureau, World Athletics and Thailand Tri-League. The races take place across central and historic Bangkok. The 21.1 km Half Marathon starts at MBK Center on Phayathai Road, while the Marathon, 10K and Family Run start around Sanam Luang and Ratchadamnoen Nai Road. All four races finish at Sanam Luang in Bangkok’s historic district.

The Theme and Experience: “The Unforgettable Marathon”
The 2026 event is promoted around “The Unforgettable Marathon,” turning the race into more than a competition. Runners move through Bangkok’s contrasting cityscapes, from modern districts to historic roads and landmarks around Rattanakosin. The routes are designed to showcase Bangkok itself, giving participants a sense of the capital’s energy, architecture and identity while they race.
Thai food, race expo activities, entertainment and cultural touches create a festival-style weekend for runners, families and spectators. Together, these elements connect sport with travel, inviting visitors to experience Bangkok through movement, culture and celebration.
Amazing Thailand Marathon Bangkok 2026 Race Schedule
The 2026 event is divided across two race days. Saturday is dedicated to the Half Marathon, while the Marathon, 10K and Family Run take place on Sunday. The organiser notes that start times and cut-off times may be adjusted, so participants should check the official event information again before race weekend.

Landmarks You'll See Along the Route
The Amazing Thailand Marathon Bangkok 2026 is designed to take runners through both modern central Bangkok and the historic old city. The exact scenery depends on race distance, so not every participant will pass every landmark. The Marathon and Half Marathon cover the broadest sections of the city, while the 10K and Family Run stay closer to Ratchadamnoen and Sanam Luang.

Planning Your Bangkok Marathon Weekend
Planning ahead can make the Amazing Thailand Marathon Bangkok 2026 easier for both runners and accompanying family members. The Half Marathon starts at MBK Center at 4 am on 28 November, while the Marathon begins at Sanam Luang at 2 am on 29 November 2026, so transport and meeting arrangements are especially important.
Tips Before Joining Marathon Weekend
- Plan your race-day transport early. Confirm your start location and arrange transport before race morning, particularly for the 2 am Marathon and 4 am Half Marathon starts. Road closures may also affect normal driving routes.
- Prepare everything the night before. Keep your race bib, running gear, phone, water and transport information ready so there is less to organise during the early-morning departure.
- Set a meeting point for family and supporters. Agree on where to meet after the race rather than relying on finding each other around the busy Sanam Luang finish area.
Tips After Joining Marathon Weekend
- Refuel and take time to rest. Return for breakfast or a relaxed meal rather than immediately filling the day with activities. Bangkok'78 serves breakfast from 6:30 am and lunch and dinner from 11:30 am
- Choose gentle post-race activities. A quiet afternoon around the hotel or an easy visit to nearby areas such as Lumpini Park or Ratchaprasong can keep the rest of the day flexible. Sindhorn Midtown is centrally located near both areas.
- Use the hotel for recovery time. The rooftop pool hotel in Bangkok with an 18th-floor Horizon Pool provides a relaxed setting after the race, while the hotel's fitness facilities remain available if runners want light movement or stretching.
